In cooperation with the Croatian Comparative Law Association (CCLA) the Institute is organising an international scientiffic conference titled Brussels I Regulation: Challenges for Croatian Judiciary which will be held on 13 and 14 November 2009 in Opatija, Croatia. This conference is the first in the series of conferences dedicated to the our estimmed professor Petar Šarčević who higly indebted the Croatian science on private international law. The conference program covers the topics concerned with general issues and special heads of jurisdiction under the Brussels I Regulation, with particular emphasis on the new developments and relationships with third countries. The aim of the conference is to offer guidance to Croatian lawyers on how to implement the Regulation provisions as a part of the capacity building for the accession to the EU. Besides, it is intended to provide the lawyers interested in the topic with an insight into some of the recent issues.
